Motor Sea School Learn in Luxury : Cardinal Yachts offer vessels and equipment of superb quality, and match that with instructors of the highest calibre. Learn in safety : Yachts with wide decks and high guard rails, together with a well protected fly bridge offer safety and security at all times. Additionally we provide all safety equipment recommended by the RYA. Learn in Devon or The Solent : From our base in South Devon you will find a wealth of interesting ports. Salcombe, Newton Ferrers, Plymouth and Fowey to the west. Brixham and Torquay to the east. Charters may visit France, The Channel Islands and The Isles of Scilly if conditions permit.
Experienced Tutors : All tuition is given by professional seamen holding the RYA Yachtmaster Instructor qualification. Do I need previous experience? No, courses are offered at all levels from novice to Yachtmaster. If you have any doubts call for a chat, we can then advise which is the best course for you.
Flexibility : Those with busy lives and full timetables may have courses structured to suit their personal requirements.
I find formal training daunting. What can you offer? Try a Cardinal Yachts Introduction to Motor Cruising Course. This is very informal and is designed to encourage. You will be under no pressure at all. Once you have broken the ice you will want to return.

Introduction to Motor Cruising : Duration 2days. Safety and Seamanship
Helmsman's Course : Duration 2 days. Boat handling and introduction to engine maintenance.
Day Skipper Course : Duration Theory 6 days. Practical 4 days. At this level you will be able to take command of a motor yacht in familiar waters during daylight hours.
Coastal Skipper Course : Duration Theory 6 days. Practical 5 days. As a coastal skipper you will capable of taking charge of a motor yacht on coastal passages day or night.
Yachtmaster Offshore Course : Our Yachtmaster preparation week will help you to brush up old skills and learn a few new ones prior to the examination. Sea time required: 2,500 Nautical Miles 50 Days at sea. 5 passages over 60 NM ( 2 overnight and 2 as a skipper.).
Examinations : If you wish to take either the Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster examinations we can make the arrangements on your behalf and provide a vessel with crew.
Own Boat Tuition : Any of the RYA courses can be conducted on your own boat if she is properly equipped. Or you may just want some instruction on boat handling, or the operation of onboard electronic systems.
